No Snow Day

Thursday, February 26th, 2004

I love the snow. It makes everything so pretty. Everything becomes new, fresh, and clean looking. I woke up around 8:15 with two to three inches of snow at my house. Dad’s truck was still here so I knew school had been canceled, because, for those of you who don’t know, he’s the principal. Then I remembered “Oh yeah, I’m in college…I don’t get out for snow.” :( I knew there was a midterm today, so I called Mr. Fox and told him of my situation, and he said I could take it tomorrow. Well, the roads cleared up in time for me to take the test, which is just as well because I didn’t feel like studying anymore.

I did well on my midterm. It was in ‘Intermediate Object Oriented Computer Programming with Java’. There were two parts, and by the time I finished the second he had the first part graded, and told me I had the second highest grade so far.

If all goes as planned, Michelle and I will be going to the Mall of Georgia on Saturday to see “The Passion of the Christ”. My church is having a private showing in the local theater, but I want to see it in a theater that has a full size screen, comfy seats, working surround sound, and other features that our theater doesn’t have.

For Lent this year I decided to give up something that I truly enjoy. Something I normally don’t go a day without, something that has become very dear to me…coffee. It’s not going to be easy, but I think I can do it. I’ve also decided to give up heroine, pot, and cocaine. ;)

Doing the Senior Video (Again)

Friday, February 20th, 2004

I’ve been very productive as of late. I really enjoy this only working one day a week. I can get used to it. Lets see… I added an “office” in my room. I now have a desk that I can work at, instead of the kitchen table. Mom is pleased, and so am I because I can now listen to my music down here in my basement-room and everybody can go about their business upstairs.

Last year I made the senior video for my class, and everyone loved it. ;) Well, the school gave me a call and hired me to do it this year also. Now I’m just waiting on my scanner that I bought yesterday to come so I can start on the pictures.

I got a hair cut. I haven’t had one in several months.

JuneK got a blog! So you should all go and check it out.

Drunk Driving

Wednesday, February 18th, 2004

I had another LEAP yesterday. It was about drunk driving. The guy that came and talked to us was named Mark something. He started out asking, “How many of you have ever done anything stupid when you were drunk?” Most everyone raised their hand, and there were a lot of giggles. “How many of you have ever driven 100 miles per hour?” Hands were raised again. “How many of you are going to be the first in your family to graduate college?” A couple people raised their hands. “How many of you have ever made a video tape of you and your friends being stuipd?” Lots of hands, and lots of laughter. These questions went on a little bit longer, they were all pretty funny. Then he said, “How many of you have ever killed your three best friends?” He raised his hand. Complete silence.

He told us about the video he and his four friends made the on the last night of their spring break of their senior year of college. He encouraged us to laugh at their drunken dancing, and their stupidity, because that’s why they made the video. He started the video and stepped out of the room. There was no designated driver that night, and they almost made it home. After the video there was a slide show. It showed the car they were driving. It was half the size it started out as. There was a picture of the 200 yard wreck scene. It looked like a plane had crashed there was so much stuff everywhere. He stepped back into the room wearing an orange jumpsuit. He told us about the wreck, about how he killed three of his closest friends. How the one that lived will never speak to him again. He told us how he was in a coma for two weeks, and when he woke up the police came. The next picture on the screen was his mug shot, laying in a hospital bed. He spent the next three years in a high security prison. He will be on probation until 2016. He was going to be the first person in his family to graduate college, instead he was the first in prison.

I don’t drink, and don’t plan on it, but this really drove the point home. It was a very moving program, and I’m glad I got to go.

V-Day

Saturday, February 14th, 2004

Happy Valentine’s Day! I spent the entire day with Michelle, and it was wonderful. We just watched TV the whole time, but it’s always nice to just lounge around.

My absolute favorite artist of all time is going to be in Georgia next month! Angie Aparo will be in Athens on March 4th, and even if it is dad’s birthday I think he’ll understand. Angie usually plays in bars and what-not, so I can never go because of age restrictions. He’ll be playing at 40 Watt, but it doesn’t say anything about age restrictions. SA, he’ll be in Statesboro on the 5th playing at The Pond House…you might want to check it out. I really hope I get to go to this.

I’m eating some homemade Chex Mix, and it’s really good. I’m on my second bowl.
