Bad Drivers

Friday, April 30th, 2004

What is it about my car that says, “Please pull out in front of me and go half my speed!” or “I’m not beside you, it’s alright if you change lanes and run me off the road.”??? In the past week I have almost been in at least 20 wrecks. There are so many bad drivers around here. They don’t pay attention to the road, or the cars around them. I’m tired of these old farts, who can’t see over the steering wheel, driving! I think once you get a certain age you should start taking a drivers test every year. Some people just shouldn’t be driving. They can’t see, hear, react in time to do squat. Just yesterday I was driving to college to finish up a few last things, and the car beside me ran me off the road and I almost hit a sign. When I caught back up to the person to see who it was, the guy must have been 90! He could barely see over the steering wheel. I wish we had public transportation here, because I’d make all the elderly who think they can still drive ride the bus. (I don’t know how I would do this, but I would.) It’s just not safe.

On a softer note:
I’ve had a great week of sitting at home and working on the senior video. (I can’t wait until they pay me!) I start work at Mystic Mountain Coffeehouse tomorrow. It should be really fun. Plus, I love coffee.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

One Year Down, Three (or more) to Go

Monday, April 26th, 2004

Well, I’m officially done with my freshman year of college!! I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it. Now I’ve got to find a job for the summer (I think I’ve found a job at a coffee house as a night manager), and get accepted to GA State. My acceptance depends on my final transcript, which will be sent out next week.

I’ve been patiently waiting for a package for the past week. I really hope it comes today.

Guy; Example Paper

Wednesday, April 21st, 2004

I will have a new page added to amipow.com soon, but not real soon. The page is going to be about the man that poses for the bathroom signs, who slips on wet floors, who gets his fingers cut off by lawnmowers, and ends up in a wheelchair. I want to make a book about him one day, and this is my start.

I’ve had a great day today! Well, the last half of it at least. Today in English 102 I had to read my annotation on the last part of the book we just read. Before I sat back down he asked me to read the first sentence again. I was kind of worried, because if there is a problem he’ll usually point it out. But today he said, “Excellent! That is what a topic sentence is supposed to be like. Read it one more time for the class.” That made me happy. Then he handed back our papers that we turned in last Friday. I was the second to last person to get mine back, and I was getting really nervous. When I unfolded the paper it said A! (Which is a great improvement from my last paper where I got a C.) After class I asked him what he had written on the top (he has really sloppy writing) and it said, “This paper is an excellent example…” He asked me if he could photocopy the paper to use as an example for next semester! I was thrilled.

Last Week of Classes

Monday, April 19th, 2004

I suppose I should be paying attention to my professor right now, but I’d rather be doing this. Dr. Ramm is a very intelligent man, but he just can’t teach.

I’m giving my final speech in Intro to Public Speaking today! I’ll be glad to have it over. It’s a persuasive speech about pornography (I’m speaking against it). So far, only two or three people assumed that I’m speaking against it. Most people get all happy, chuckle, and ask me if I’m going to have visual aids as if they were the first person to ask.

This is my last week of classes; next week is finals week. I’m so glad to get out of school. I’m so glad that I made it through my first year of college. Now I just need to get accepted by Georgia State University. I don’t have a back up plan, so say a little prayer for me.
