Loosing my Toenail

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Yesterday was quite a painful day. Since the weather warranted, I was wearing sandals as I was preparing my lunch. I got everything I needed out of the fridge and closed the door; that was when I felt one of the most excruciating thing I have ever felt in my life. (Did you know that they word crucify comes from the same root word as excruciating? Definitely says something about the pain.) I looked down at my foot and saw my toe lying next to my sandal! Just kidding. But seriously: I looked down and saw blood gushing from a newly placed cut on my left big toe. I knew that a cut couldn’t be causing me that much pain so I looked closer and saw that my toe nail had been lifted from my toe. It was just kind of floating there, attached only at the base of the nail. I quickly pushed it back down where it belonged and made many painful groaning/whimpering sounds until Michelle came to investigate. She was kind enough to finish making my lunch, and she even made me an iced latte while I bandaged myself. I decided that I should probably wear shoes to protect my toe for the rest of the day. During a break at work I changed the band aids and inspected my toe. It was better than it was in the morning in the sense that it wasn’t profusely gushing blood. (I always like to use the adverb ‘profusely’ when describing my bleeding. It makes it sound so much more terrible.)

As of this morning I am no longer in immense pain, but I was scared to go to the fridge. I had wrapped a piece of medical tape around my toe yesterday to keep the nail down, and it looks like it is comfortable back where it originated. Hopefully it will be fine without any further problems like infections and gangrene.

Week after Spring Break

The photos page is now complete! I was working on it between classes, and was almost late for Criminal Justice (which I’m in right now).

I’ve been on Spring Break for the past week, and I’m really out of sync now. My work schedule was the same during the past week, but it was nice having my evenings off. (Cool, I just got my second test back in this class… I made a 90!) In case anyone was wondering, school is going well right now, and I hope it continues that way. I have to register for my summer classes in a couple of weeks, and I need to apply to Georgia State University. Hopefully, after I complete my Associates I’ll be able to get a job with some police department. I don’t really want to be an officer right now, but I would like to work with them.

There was such beautiful weather this past weekend! Michelle and I went exploring Sunday morning. We like to explore roads and parks that we haven’t been down before. Afterward, we went to Pikes and bought some pansies and other flowers to plant around the inside of our patio. It looks really nice. Oh yeah, for those of you who don’t know, I have a cat now. It’s name is Gypsy, and over all, she’s a good cat.

The person sitting behind me is driving me crazy! She keeps finishing the sentences of the teacher. I’m waiting for her to yell out , “AMEN!” It’s so annoying, and the teacher keeps giving her a look that says, “Stop doing that,” but she apparently doesn’t hear his message. Hopefully she’ll stop.

I’ve been very annoyed with Internet Explorer lately. My new design doesn’t look good in it, and I don’t understand why. I’ve been using Mozilla Firefox lately, and I really like it. It does everything Internet Explorer does, except there’s no spyware, it makes more sense, plus, my website looks a lot better in it. Go to getfirefox.com to download it.
