Shift Change

Sunday, December 10th, 2006

Tonight through Christmas I’ll be working morning watch; from 10:30PM to 6:30AM. Most young guys like working this shift. There’s more stuff to get into, plus you get to stay up all night. I, on the other hand, hate this shift. I don’t mind working at night, but there’s something about going to work one day and coming home the next that really bothers me. Not only that, but it really confuses my body to go to sleep one day and wake up the same day. Plus, I like going to bed around eight or nine o’clock and waking up early. I’ve never really been much of night person. Hopefully, when I’m released from training, I’ll be able work either day or evening shift.

Michelle and I saw Apocalypto today. It fell right in line with Mel Gibson’s other bloody movies (Braveheart, The Patriot, and The Passion), but Apocalypto had much more gore in it. I’ve read many reviews of the movie that bash it for all of the blood and gore, but the Mayan people were not very friendly. A scene depicting hearts being taken from living victims and their heads being tossed down the side of pyramids comes directly from history books. The movie is entirely in Mayan and subtitled in English, which makes it seem very authentic.

We both enjoyed the movie even though we cringed a couple of times during each scene. If you can put up with blood and indigenous nudity then you’ll enjoy the movie.

I Hate Telemarketers / Job Update

I Hate Telemarketers
The only people that have my home number are telemarketers. The only reason I have a home phone is for the DSL. I don’t hate the people who call me, I just hate their job function. There are probably a lot of people who hate my job function too, but I have found a way to combine the two jobs. Just follow this link to find out how. Make sure the volume is turned up on your speakers. |http://howtoprankatelemarketer.ytmnd.com|

Job Update
I’m really enjoying my job. It’s not always fun and it’s not always exciting, but it’s always interesting. I have a feeling I’ll enjoy it a lot more once I’m no longer being graded on everything I do. So far I’m getting good daily grades. There are things I need to improve on, but only practice will help.

I appreciate everyone’s support and prayers. Keep them coming.
